Arrested Development to rock Cottingham Civic Hall

Have a dollar, no have two. ‘Mr Wendal’ is coming to the ‘Everyday People’ in East Yorkshire.

You read that right. All the way from Atlanta Georgia comes the former super-group Arrested Development on their 2022 UK tour.

The double Grammy-winning group whose members have admittedly switched around a little since their chart topping days; non the less retain their distinctive progressive hip-hop tone with previous tours concluding to great acclaim.

Now they are set to appear at Cottingham’s Civic Hall on 16th April 2022. The announcement will not surprise many who have seen the scale of the artists appearing at the venue increase over the past few years. With Covid restrictions lifted, this latest booking is a sign that is set to carry on.

Have a dollar, no have two! Mr Wendal is coming to Cottingham.

In 1992 the group rose to prominence with their Platinum album ‘3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of’, incorporating hits like Mr Wendal, People Everyday and Tennessee. The track ‘Revolution’ also from the chart-topping album featured in the watershed film Malcom X of the same year.

In 1998 the group went their separate ways but re-formed in 2000 and have been touring and producing records on the Vaguard Label. According to the former lead singer Tod Thomas, beter known as his stage name ‘Speech’ the band was origionally formed to show a kinder and more optimistic side of the gangster rap scene. In 2007, they toured Australia as part of a triple-bill including with Simple Minds and INXS and in 2008, they performed at The Concert for Peace in Jerusalem attended by both Palestinians and Israelis and featuring the Black Eyed Peas.
