Commissioner Welcomes New Mayor and Chief Constable

COTTINGHAM- Jonathan Evison, Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside, has shared an optimistic summer update, welcoming both a new regional mayor and a new chief constable.

Writing in Your East Riding magazine, Evison highlighted the appointment of the new Mayor of the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority, expressing confidence in the region’s potential to become an “outstanding place to live, work and visit” through joined-up leadership.

April also marked the arrival of Chris Todd as Chief Constable of Humberside Police. Evison praised the force’s continued high performance—ranked top in the country by independent inspectors—and vowed to push for further improvements in service standards. “Our communities deserve the best service,” he said, “and I will be challenging Mr Todd to continue this trajectory.”

Chief Constable Todd echoed the commitment to excellence, pledging “consistent, stable and ethical leadership” while focusing on victims, communities, and the workforce. “I would like the communities we serve to have confidence in and be proud of the service they receive,” he stated.
