East Riding Libraries Celebrate National Crime Reading Month with Top Crime Authors

East Riding – Local libraries are marking National Crime Reading Month this June with a compelling line-up of free author talks, giving residents the chance to hear directly from some of the region’s best crime writers.

The month-long celebration of the genre features events across the county, bringing fresh perspectives to crime fiction, from gritty urban noir to nostalgic cosy mysteries.

Nick Quantrill at Goole Library
Date: 5 June 2025, 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Nick Quantrill, the Hull-based author of the acclaimed Joe Geraghty private investigator series, will delve into his writing process and the importance of place in crime fiction. Known for putting Hull on the crime fiction map, Quantrill’s sessions are always insightful and engaging.

Date: 27 June 2025, 10:30am
Bestselling author Glenda Young will talk about her Scarborough-set cosy crime series, which was shortlisted alongside Richard Osman for Best New Crime Series in the Dead Good Readers’ Awards. With strong female leads and a charming seaside setting, her novels bring a lighter twist to the genre.
