BEVERLEY – A Cambridge choir with a family link stretching back decades is set to perform at St Mary’s Church in Beverley this April.
The Orsino Singers will bring their programme Music for an April Evening to the church on Saturday 11 April at 6pm.
The concert has a personal significance for Beverley resident Ian Macklay, who says he was christened at St Mary’s more than 60 years ago. Now his daughter will sing there in front of her grandmother, who has been part of the congregation for nearly 70 years.

The programme includes music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Brahms, alongside Eric Whitacre’s Seal Lullaby, Howard Goodall’s The Lord is My Shepherd and Ivor Novello’s We’ll Gather Lilacs.
James Dougal is the music director, with Berenice Lewis on piano and organ.
Doors open at 5.30pm and refreshments will be available before the performance.
For anyone who enjoys choral music, or simply wants an evening of live performance in one of Beverley’s best-known churches, it promises to be a strong start to the town’s spring events calendar.
