Extra Information

Hull’s Freedom Festival is one of the city’s biggest cultural highlights, attracting thousands of local people and visitors from across the UK. The 2025 edition stretches across three zones — from Ferensway and Queen Victoria Square, through Princes Dock Street and Hull Minster, to Humber Street and the Marina. The programme combines international street theatre, live music, circus, film, visual art, and family-friendly activities.

The festival is also designed to be walkable. Each of the three zones is within easy reach of one another, allowing audiences to drift between headline spectacles and smaller pop-up performances. From large-scale parades and site-specific theatre to intimate installations, Freedom’s strength lies in its variety.

Tickets are only required for certain performances such as film screenings and indoor shows. Many outdoor events, including parades, street theatre, and installations, are free to attend. The latest details and bookings are available via the official website: https://www.freedomfestival.co.uk/whats-on/

Getting There

Hull city centre is compact and well served by transport. By train, Hull Paragon Interchange has regular services from Leeds, York, Doncaster, and Sheffield. The festival zones are a 10–15 minute walk from the station. By bus, regional and local routes terminate at the Interchange, again within walking distance of Queen Victoria Square and the Fruit Market.

For those arriving by car, parking is available at Princes Quay, the Marina multi-storey, and Humber Street. Road closures and diversions are expected across the weekend, particularly around Queen Victoria Square and the Old Town, so allow extra time.

Hull is also easy to explore on foot or by bike. Secure cycle parking is available at Princes Quay and the Marina, and most festival locations are linked by pedestrianised streets.
