The Beverley Arms, a standout in Thwaites’ portfolio, has long been regarded as one of Yorkshire’s premier coaching inns, blending Georgian heritage with modern comfort. Its success locally mirrors the wider reputation of the Thwaites brand, which continues to invest heavily in restoring and improving its historic properties.

The awards ceremony, hosted at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London by TV presenter Vernon Kay, celebrated the very best of the UK’s hotels, restaurants and inns.
Richard Bailey, Executive Chairman at Thwaites, said,
“We’re beyond thrilled to have been named Group of the Year by The AA. This fantastic award is true testament to the passion and hard work of everyone across the business. It’s a proud moment and a wonderful endorsement of the unforgettable experiences our teams create for guests every single day.”
Euan Davidson, Senior Hotel and Restaurant Inspector at The AA, praised the company’s blend of heritage and innovation, saying,
“Thwaites stands out as a diverse operator where quality shines and authentic hospitality runs through all of its operations. Ongoing investment across the group showcases a dedication to guest experience, from flagship properties like Langdale Chase on Windermere to local gems like The Beverley Arms.”
Founded in 1807, Thwaites began life as a Lancashire brewery and has grown into one of Britain’s most admired independent hospitality groups. Today, its inns and spa hotels combine craftsmanship, comfort and a strong sense of place, values reflected in The Beverley Arms’ continuing role as a cornerstone of the town’s hospitality scene.
