Beverley has been announced as a finish location for this year’s Tour of Britain race, bringing world-class cyclists back to the roads of the East Riding. On September 5th, more than 100 of the world’s top cyclists, including Olympic, world, and Tour de France champions, will race to the finish line in Beverley on stage three of the race. This marks the first time since 2008 that the Tour of Britain has come through Beverley, although the East Riding has previously hosted several international cycle races, including the Tour de Yorkshire events and a UCI Para-cycling event in 2019.
The Tour of Britain is a significant event on the UK sporting calendar, and this year’s race will start in Greater Manchester on September 3rd and finish in South Wales on September 10th, covering all four corners of the UK. The race will be broadcast live on ITV4, with a nightly highlights show available.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Chief Executive, Caroline Lacey, expressed her excitement about Beverley hosting the stage three finish of the Tour of Britain and the opportunity to showcase Beverley and the East Riding to audiences both at home and abroad. Mick Bennett, Tour of Britain race director, also shared his enthusiasm for the event and thanked the council and stakeholders for their support.
Further details about stage three of the race, including the route and timetable, will be announced in the coming months.
