Breath in the outdoors this month with 3 great local events

There will be three chances this month to enjoy nature in the local area.

Fungi Foray : Thursday, 20 October : Eastrington Ponds Local Nature Reserve, Howden Road , Eastrington : 10am – 12 noon.
Enter the mysterious world of fungi, by joining mycologist Caroline Hobart and the countryside access team on the annual autumnal foray across the reserve, and see how fungi make a vital contribution to life on earth.
The event is free, but must be booked in advance. Meet at the Local Nature Reserve. Suitable for all, with up to a mile of easy walking.

Kids Go Wild:  Hibernation Dens : Wednesday, 26 October : Humber Bridge Country Park, Hessle: sessions from 10am-12 noon and 1pm – 3pm.
Help build hibernation dens in the woods on the reserve, using logs, leaves, moss, sticks and twigs.
The event is free, but must be booked in advance. Join any time during the two sessions. The event will be held in the woods – park and meet next to the Black Mill on Hessle Foreshore and follow the directions into the country park. Suitable for children and families who enjoy an autumnal adventure in the woods.

Autumn Migration Birdwatch : Friday, 28 October : South Landing Local Nature Reserve, South Sea Road, Flamborough: 10am – 12.30pm.
Flamborough’s headland welcomes many birds from Scandinavia in the autumn, including thrushes like redwings and fieldfares, blackbirds, and song thrushes.
Bring binoculars if possible, and a telescope will be available. The session will be led by local birdwatching guide, Richard Baines, from Yorkshire Coast Nature. The session will include an easy walk of up to two miles.
Tickets must be booked in advance: adults £3.50; over 60s £2.50; Under 16s £2.50; family tickets (two adults and two children) £9.
