HULL – Students at Hymers College are once again celebrating after achieving highly impressive A Level results.
Sixth Form students, along with their families and teachers, are marking an exceptional year of academic success – reflecting the school’s continued commitment to high achievement and all-round development.

For the first time, Hymers is also celebrating the success of its BTEC students, following the recent introduction of BTEC Sport to its curriculum.
Key highlights from this year’s results at the independent school in Hull include:
54% of all grades awarded were A* or A, or equivalent
77% of all grades awarded were A– B, or equivalent
Almost two thirds of students studying three or more A Levels achieved ABB or better
100% of BTEC Sport students achieved Distinction Star or Distinction
92% of all grades were A- C, or equivalent.

Hymers students excelled across a wide range of subjects, with standout achievements including:
84% of Science grades at A– B
82% of Maths grades A– B
100% of Business grades A– B

Many students are now progressing to leading universities to study a wide range of courses – including Politics, International Business, Classics, Medicine and Fine Art – while others embark on alternative high-value pathways, including competitive apprenticeships at leading national and international employers.
A total of six students have secured a place at either Oxford or Cambridge.
Melanie Healy, 18, from Leconfield, near Beverley, marked A Level results day with pride at Hymers. She secured an A in History, A* in her Extended Project Qualification, A in Latin and A in French.
A pupil at Hymers since the age of eight, Melanie has made the most of the many opportunities available to her and is now looking ahead to studying French and Arabic at Cambridge as part of their Asian and Middle Eastern Studies course.
Reflecting on her time at Hymers, Melanie said: “It’s been amazing at Hymers. I’ve had so many opportunities – which I’ve tried to make the most of. I’ve also made some incredible friends.
“The staff have been really supportive throughout, but especially in Sixth Form. They’ve always encouraged us and given us extra help if we needed it.
“I’ve grown so much in confidence during my time here. I think I’ll always look back on my time at Hymers with a lot of fondness, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful.”
Theo Yeadon, 18, from Beverley, leaves Hymers College with strong academic credentials and happy memories of a school experience shaped just as much by extra-curricular activities as classroom learning.
He achieved A* grades in Economics, Geography, Maths and for his Extended Project Qualification, as well as an A in Further Maths.
“A Level and BTEC results day marks the endpoint of the Hymers journey for these students and, in many cases, their parents as well.
“It’s a celebration and a recognition of all the hard work and collective endeavours of students, staff and parents.
Justin Stanley, Headmaster – Hymers College
With an offer to study Geography at the University of Cambridge, Theo is excited about what lies ahead.
“It’s been really good at Hymers,” he said. “It’s not just been about the lessons, it’s been all the extra-curricular activities as well. There are a lot of opportunities here.
“I’ve now got an offer to go to Cambridge to study Geography. I’ve got fond memories of my time at Hymers – it’s a really nice environment.”
Headmaster Justin Stanley said: “A Level and BTEC results day marks the endpoint of the Hymers journey for these students and, in many cases, their parents as well.
“It’s a celebration and a recognition of all the hard work and collective endeavours of students, staff and parents.
“It’s wonderful to see our students rewarded not only for their hard work in the classroom but also for the many ways in which they’ve contributed to the Hymers community.
They’ve been exceptional role models for the younger pupils.
“We look forward to hearing all about what these tremendous individuals go on to do and staying connected to them, both in the short and longer term – once a Hymerian, always a Hymerian.
“While we will, of course, miss the Class of 2025, we know that we send them off fully prepared to meet the challenges ahead of them and make a positive contribution to their universities, places of work and wider communities.
“We know that the lessons they’ve learned – both in and out of the classroom – will last well beyond their time with us, and we know that in very many cases they’ve made friends at Hymers that will last a lifetime.”
Mr Stanley also had a special word for the first Hymers BTEC students.
“Thanks very much to our BTEC pioneers, who’ve blazed a trail for others to follow,” he said.
The latest success comes on the back of outstanding results in 2024, with Department for Education (DfE) data placing Hymers students top in Hull, East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
