HULL – Thinking of heading to the now famous Queen Victoria Square fountains next week to cool off as the heat is set to sour to over 20 degrees?
Sadly Hull City Council have conformed they will stay out of action for the foreseeable future, as Hull City Council grapples with persistent mechanical issues.
After completing scheduled maintenance, engineers uncovered more faults within the fountains’ internal systems—critical parts that affect water quality.
Further repairs have been carried out, but the council insists on extensive testing before allowing the fountains to flow again.

“Despite our best efforts to reopen the fountains, we will not do so until the issues have been fully resolved, and the water quality is satisfactory,” said Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure.
The council admits the delay is frustrating but stresses that public safety comes first. No timeline has been given for when the fountains will be switched back on.
