WOODMANSEY – Residents of Woodmansey and Dunswell now have an exciting new way to stay fit and active, thanks to the Woodmansey Parish Council’s successful application for a National Lottery grant. The Parish Council has invested £20,000 in state-of-the-art outdoor exercise equipment, which has been installed in two key locations within the parish: King Street Park in Woodmansey and the playing field at Dunswell Village Institute Sports Hall.
The project was entirely funded by the National Lottery, meaning it hasn’t cost local residents a penny. This achievement marks a major win for the community, providing accessible fitness opportunities for people of all ages.
The equipment includes a variety of workout stations designed to cater to a range of fitness levels, from beginners to seasoned athletes. Whether residents are looking to shed a few extra pounds after the festive season or simply maintain an active lifestyle, the new facilities are a fantastic way to exercise in the great outdoors.
Cllr Kerri Harold, Chair of Woodmansey Parish Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We at Woodmansey Parish Council are thrilled to be able to provide both Woodmansey and Dunswell with this amazing outdoor exercise equipment. We hope residents enjoy it and feel the benefits for years to come.”
The equipment’s locations were carefully chosen to ensure accessibility for as many residents as possible. King Street Park provides a central hub for families and fitness enthusiasts in Woodmansey, while the Dunswell Village Institute site serves as a convenient spot for those living in or near Dunswell. Both areas now offer free, high-quality exercise options to encourage a healthier lifestyle across the parish.
The timing of the installation couldn’t be better, as many residents look for ways to get active following the indulgences of the holiday season. In their announcement on social media, the Parish Council playfully encouraged locals to take advantage of the new facilities, saying, “Here is a chance for you to work off that excess enjoyed over Christmas… when it stops raining and snowing, of course!”
This initiative reflects the Parish Council’s commitment to enhancing community facilities and promoting well-being for all. As the weather improves, residents are urged to make use of these fantastic new resources, which are sure to become a well-loved addition to the community.
